EDGERTON, Wis. (WMTV) -Edgerton Community Outreach delivered more than 700 Thanksgiving dinners to people in the area Thursday, continuing a tradition of bringing home-cooked meals to community members during the holidays.
Nellie Lyons spent Thanksgiving morning making sure everyone had a taste of home. She started volunteering with Edgerton Community Outreach at 5 years old as part of a family tradition.
“It started with my grandma and my great grandma,” Lyons said.
Now 16 years old, this year marked a major milestone for Lyons, who took on a new role behind the wheel.
“This is my first year with my license,” she said. “I think I drove a little last year with my permit.”
Extensive volunteer operation
Volunteers cover more than 20 routes with multiple stops, feeding around 700 people
