GILBERT, Ariz. — A man who allegedly hit and killed two people and a dog had, at the time of the crash, a blood alcohol content that was more than three times the legal limit, and drove through a red light at more than double the posted speed limit in the area.
A 36-year-old rideshare driver and her 33-year-old passenger were killed when they were hit by a suspected impaired driver who ran a red light on Sep. 19.
Officials said the crash happened at Recker and Ray roads just before 9 p.m. Friday. An initial investigation showed that an SUV driven by a 35-year-old man was traveling at a "high rate of speed," according to witnesses, when the driver ran a red light and hit the rideshare driver's car in the intersection.
