LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - For some families, their children receiving medical care means they’re spending Thanksgiving away from home.
Volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House of Kentuckiana wanted to make those families feel as at home as possible today.
The house’s chef, along with a few volunteers, spent a few hours on Thursday making food for and serving families staying at the house this Thanksgiving.
Volunteers told WAVE that spending the holiday away from home can be tough, and making these families a Thanksgiving meal is a way to make it a little easier.
“If we can do anything to take any weight off of their plates, by all means, that’s what our mission is,” said Omar Romero, the house’s chef.
Romero makes several meals a week, but on Thanksgiving, his mission is special.
