MONROE, La. (KNOE) - For many international students at the University of Louisiana Monroe, traveling home for Thanksgiving isn’t an option. But thanks to a long-standing tradition, they still get to experience the warmth of the holiday—right here on campus.

This year marks the 21st annual Thanksgiving lunch hosted at ULM’s International House. The event was organized by the Catholic Center and local volunteers, bringing students, faculty, and community members together for a meal that’s about more than turkey and stuffing.

Dr. Carl Thameling, a communications professor at ULM, explained that the idea started after hurricanes in 2004 left many families without food. Volunteers stepped in to help, and that sparked a bigger mission: making sure students who couldn’t go home during the shor
