A Scots woman has had numerous organs removed during her decades-long battle with a debilitating disease.
Candice McKenzie, 50, grapples with endometriosis (endo), a chronic disease that causes excruciating pain.
She was diagnosed with the condition in 1999. After countless treatments, including chemically-induced menopause when she was just 21-years-old, Candice underwent surgery to remove her ovaries, uterus, and fallopian tubes.
This November, she launched a petition with the Scottish Government urging them to create a database tracking treatments and patient outcomes, reports Edinburgh Live.
The West Lothian woman says there is a lack of effective treatment options, often pushing patients into life-altering procedures.
