A huge search operation to locate a "person in the water" in an Aberdeen river was stood down after it turned out to be a seal swimming in the area.
The Coastguard were alerted to an incident in the River Dee at around 10.42pm, with crews from both Aberdeen and Stonehaven sent to the Queen Elizabeth Bridge in Torry .
Police Scotland and the fire service as well as an RNLI Aberdeen lifeboat were also called to assist, with the operation carried out along the river.
Teams were later stood down after it was deemed to be animal activity rather than a person in danger.
