The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 8:56 a.m. on Friday for lake effect snow until 10 a.m. for Fulton, Montgomery, Saratoga, Schoharie, Schenectady, Albany, Rensselaer and Washington counties.

"At 8:55 a.m., a lake effect snow band was over Glenville, or near Amsterdam moving east at 50 MPH," says the weather service.

This includes the following highways: Interstate 88 between exits 24 and 25. Interstate 90 between exits 9 and 28. Interstate 890 between exits 1a and 9. Interstate 87 between exits 23 and 7, and between exits 8A and 15. Interstate 787 between exits 1 and 9.

Expect lake effect snow in the following locations:

Glenville and Pattersonville-Rotterdam Junction around 9 a.m.

East Glenville and Burnt Hills around 9:05 a.m.
