Growing up in Ohio, Joe Burrow’s go-to team to play as in Madden wasn’t the Cincinnati Bengals, the team he now quarterbacks, and it wasn’t the Cleveland Browns.
It was the New Orleans Saints.
Ahead of the Bengals’ Thanksgiving Day matchup with the division rival Baltimore Ravens, the former LSU quarterback proclaimed a childhood affinity for the Saints.
In a conversation with sports personality Kay Adams and former Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco, Burrow was asked what team he played with on EA Sports’ Madden video game franchise as a child.
“I always played the Saints,” Burrow said. “I wasn’t a Bengals fan, for real.”
Burrow’s father Jim was the defensive coordinator at the University of Ohio from 2005 to 2016, and Burrow grew up and played high school football in the region.
