A 12-year-old girl was rescued after being trapped in a sand hole she dug along Spring Creek Trail on Thanksgiving, thanks to quick action from her father and first responders.
Just before 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving, multiple agencies responded to a report of a child trapped in a sand cave-in.
A 12-year-old girl was on a family outing and was digging in the sand when a large hole collapsed, burying her completely. Her father was able to clear sand from around her head, allowing her to breathe until crews arrived.
Firefighters quickly stabilized the area and carefully removed the sand to free the girl.
After being evaluated by medics, the child was released to her parents, who declined transport to the hospital.
