The Southeast Public Health plan to close satellite offices is facing opposition by some elected officials in those areas.
Some area leaders have, however, reserved comment beyond saying they are watching the situation and hoping to continue to collaborate with the agency.

Health unit staff on Nov. 21 announced their plan to close eight offices in early 2026: those in Almonte, Cloyne, Gananoque, Kemptville, Napanee, Perth, Picton, and Trenton.
Dr. Piotr Oglaza, the unit’s medical officer of health and chief executive officer, said service would continue via mobile teams and the potential use of space in other organizations’ buildings.
