Remnants of fibres were uncovered on the playing fields at Redbridge and Bank View School
More than £4.5m has been set aside by Liverpool Council to remove asbestos from a special school site next year. In June 2023, it was revealed how remnants of fibres had been uncovered on the playing fields at Redbridge and Bank View School in Fazakerley , eight years after the buildings opened.
In February this year, after more than 18 months of toing and froing city council members agreed a way forward on how best to remove the materials. A planning application was submitted retrospectively after terms were agreed for the construction of both sites in December 2013 following the cancellation of Liverpool’s Building Schools for the Future capital programme three years previous.
