Brad Gushue's dream of reaching the Olympics for a third time was left on the ice at the Olympic trials in Halifax, but the Team Gushue skip says all his efforts are now focused on winning the Brier at home.

Gushue lost a match to the team skipped by Brad Jacobs on Wednesday, 6-3.

The match came down to the final shot, a triple takeout that would have sent Gushue into the playoff rounds, but he was unable to land the shot to give his team the win.

"I was calling for us to continue to sweep, and we got off the sweep for just a moment," Gushue told CBC News from Halifax, looking back on the shot.

"We didn't have to move those yellow rocks very far, but unfortunately, you know, [it] didn't make it."
