SARASOTA, Fla. ( WWSB ) - As the 2025 hurricane season closes Sunday, FEMA has sent more than $11 billion to Florida for recovery efforts from the 2024 storms, according to new numbers released this morning.

Thousands of Floridians have claimed more than $7 billion in uninsured losses from Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Hundreds of families remain in temporary housing provided by FEMA.
More than a year after the storms, the agency continues to process applications and appeals on damage.
