A great column by Torrey Snow (“ What a federal shift on housing policy means for Maryland ,” Nov. 26), and it coincidentally came on the heels of my reading of an article in the New York Times about how San Francisco is addressing the homelessness issue.
One would have to applaud the initiative of San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie, in a city with a quarter of a million more people than Baltimore. I grew up in Baltimore City (Northeast), and my whole career has been city-based. Mayor Lurie’s approach is a refreshing class study in organization and imagination. My beloved city used to have both — dollar home lotteries, Harborplace, Flower Mart, hockey under a dome, a clean and safe downtown business district, etc. I would reckon that any urban city administration that would have the compe
