Fort Wayne officials announced Friday they are prepared for the weekend snow.
The National Weather Service is forecasting 2 to 7 inches of snow on Saturday and has placed the area under a winter storm watch until at least 1 p.m. Sunday. Jim Andersen, a meteorologist with the agency, said the snowfall will likely create hazardous road conditions and comes with bad timing.
“One of the things we’re worried about with this event is that it falls on a really busy weekend for holiday travel,” he said. “So, a lot of people are going to be driving, and the roads are going to be pretty slick.”
Andersen described the impending precipitation as a “heavy, wet” snow that will compact easily and accumulate on the roads. He said areas northwest of Interstate 69 will see the most snow, while southeast
