NORMAL ( 25News Now ) - In an unprecedented move, the Illinois High School Association has postponed the second day of the state football finals in Normal as a winter storm approaches Central Illinois this weekend.

The action is being made because Illinois State University is closing its campus in Normal on Saturday. The state football finals are held at ISU’s Hancock Stadium.

The 5A, 6A, 7A, and 8A state championship games will be held in the coming days, but not on Sunday, according to an IHSA release.

“The postponement of the IHSA Football State Finals is unprecedented in the state playoffs 51-year history,” said IHSA Executive Director Craig Anderson in a prepared statement.
