MAGNOLIA ‒ Carroll County Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft of about 150 Christmas trees from Smith Evergreen Nursery at 562 Morges Road in Rose Township.
The Fraser fir trees, which were cut and wrapped, reported were stolen the morning of Nov. 24. They were taken sometime after 4 p.m. Nov. 22, according to a report. The trees were 6 to 9 feet tall and valued at $65 each.
The trees were stolen from a truck and from piles of trees kept around the truck. The vehicle was moved and its key, which was kept in the truck, was missing.
Security cameras from another business captured the suspect vehicle, a truck with a trailer, heading north on state Route 183 about 5:23 p.m. Nov. 22. It was loaded with cut evergreens.
