(KRON) – A man was arrested after he fled during a traffic stop in Capitola earlier this week, according to the Capitola Police Department.
Capitola PD conducted a traffic stop for vehicle code violations near the Capitola Mall.

One passenger, a known gang member, fled on foot and threw a firearm into nearby bushes, police said. The suspect was apprehended after a foot pursuit.

A Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office K-9 located the gun in the bushes. The pistol was loaded with an extended magazine, and the serial number was filed off, according to authorities.
