In the crowded auditorium of the Weinberg Center for the Arts in downtown Frederick, more than 100 tuba and low-pitch instrument players tooted and oom-pahed their way through a string of Christmas and holiday classics Saturday.

In what has become a Christmas tradition, the Tuba Christmas performance got the holiday season off to a low, rumbling start — which delighted the audience.
