ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — More than a week since an on-field fight, the future of Georgia high school football’s 5A playoffs is tied up in court.

During Gainesville High School’s quarterfinal victory over Brunswick High School, the teams got into a bench-clearing brawl that resulted in more than 70 suspensions between the two schools.

Brunswick received 41 suspensions and a one-year postseason ban .

Gainesville received initially 39 suspensions. The school appealed and the GHSA reversed the suspension of four players.

Not satisfied, the Gainesville City School System filed an injunction in Hall County Superior Court which asked for the suspensions to be lifted.
