Nutcracker coming to valley

Mission Dance Company is preparing to bring its annual production of The Nutcracker to stages across the Okanagan this December, with performances scheduled in Vernon, Penticton and Kelowna.

The holiday classic, directed and produced by Tanya Vadurova, will feature dancers from Mission Dance Company alongside guest performers from Okanagan Ballet Theatre. The two-hour show includes a narrated storyline, elaborate staging and what the company describes as a “larger than life” growing Christmas tree.

The production opens in Vernon on Dec. 6 with matinee and evening performances at the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre. Penticton follows on Dec. 11 and 12 at Cleland Community Theatre. Kelowna will host a three-day run Dec.18-20 at the Rotary Centre for
