Try as they might, the Norfolk Admirals have hit a slump.
Saturday night’s 4-1 loss to Maine before 4,038 at Scope was their eighth in the last nine ECHL games.
After two consecutive years of reaching the playoffs, they’re 5-10-2-0 and at the bottom of the eight-team North Division. The Mariners completed a two-game sweep of Norfolk after beating them once last weekend in Portland.
Some frustration perhaps showed for the Admirals, who were whistled for 12 infractions spanning 51 penalty minutes, compared to Maine’s eight penalties for 19 minutes. None of the Mariners’ goals came on their five power-play chances, though.
