I could see the Titans (+230) winning this game outright, but I'd rather take the points.

Against the spread

Tennessee has quietly become one of the better underdog teams in the league lately, covering 3 straight and keeping all of those games within a touchdown. They may not be stacking wins, but they’re absolutely hanging around.

This team battled hard against Seattle, and fought back late. Ward showed he can make plays even when the run game is stuck in neutral. Now he gets a softer matchup against a Jacksonville secondary that allows 240 yards per game (25th in the NFL) through the air. If there’s ever a spot for him to open things up, it’s this one—especially with the Jags on back-to-back road games.

And speaking of Jacksonville, they’ve been flirting with trouble for a while. They’re 7-4, but the numbers don’t match the record. Middle-of-the-pack in offensive and defensive DVOA, and Lawrence is struggling more than people want to admit. With 14 TDs to 11 INTs and a 43 QBR (25th in the NFL), his play is getting covered up by the supporting cast. That’s not exactly the profile of a team I’m laying a touchdown with on the road.

These teams have split their last 10 matchups straight up and ATS, so it’s usually tight. I don’t suddenly expect a blowout here. The Jags might squeak out the win, but I like Tennessee to keep it close again.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 41.5 (-110).

Neither offense inspires much confidence right now. Tennessee still struggles to get beyond the high teens, and Jacksonville’s turnover issues with Lawrence make long scoring drives tough to trust. With both defenses capable of slowing things down and the weather expected to be cold and windy, this feels like a low-tempo AFC South game that stays under the number.
