SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - It started in 2010 as a way to show smaller shops some love during the holiday shopping season.
“Small Business Saturday” has since boomed into a major holiday of sorts for independent retailers.
Small business owners we spoke with say it’s more important now than ever to shop small, because of tariffs and the current economy.
“It’s important for us financially, but it’s also important for us in terms of emotion, I guess,” said Terri Schuver, owner of Sticks and Steel at 8th and Railroad in Sioux Falls. “We’re so thankful that people make their way out, especially today in the snow. It’s an effort they don’t have to make.”
