SAN JOSE – Will Smith scored twice in his 100th NHL game, and Macklin Celebrini reached 100 points for his career, but the San Jose Sharks allowed four straight goals and never fully recovered in a 4-3 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday at T-Mobile Arena.

After Smith scored the game’s opening goal at the 7:34 mark of the first period, the Sharks allowed two goals to center Tomas Hertl and one each to forwards Colton Sissons and Mitch Marner as Vegas took a 4-1 lead by the 12:28 mark of the second period.

Smith’s second goal, just 2:12 later off an assist from Celebrini, cut the Golden Knights’ lead to 4-2. William Eklund then scored his seventh of the season, and his second in as many days, on a breakaway with 25 seconds left before the second intermission.
