ESCANABA — No injuries were reported in a house fire early Wednesday that caused heavy damage to a home on Escanaba’s south side. Dispatched at about 3:55 a.m., Escanaba Department of Public Safety found fire had engulfed the back of the house, according to a news release from Escanaba Public Safety.

The blaze caused extensive damage to the back of the home, but officers “quickly deployed attack lines to prevent the fire from spreading to the front of the house,” according to the release. Responders were on site for approximately 2 1/2 hours.
