Around 1,000 homes and businesses in Nassau experienced low water pressure for a few hours Saturday afternoon after a water main broke in Baldwin, according to a water company spokesperson.

The water main broke around 2 p.m., affecting Liberty Utilities customers in Baldwin, Oceanside and South Hempstead, spokesperson Pamela Bellings said in an email to Newsday. The customers affected initially did not lose water, Bellings said, and the company’s crews were "dispatched immediately and were able to isolate the leak."

By 4:30 p.m., the company had restored water pressure to all but six customers on Parkview Place in Baldwin, who are being provided bottled water while repairs continue, Bellings said.
