FARGO — When Fargo North defenseman Holden Erbele walked the Fargo South halls in his Spartans hockey T-shirt during school Tuesday. Not a crack or remark was directed his way.
“No funny looks or nothing,” said Erbele, who attends South.
Erbele is one four Bruins on the varsity team and one of nine South players in the North boys hockey program, as part of the June decision to consolidate the two programs into one entity.
The co-op was formed after Fargo Shanley opted to dissolve their co-op with South in February and was made official in April. The former co-op, South-Shanley, made eight state tournament appearances with a state championship in 2023.
Inside the Spartans locker room, the move to join forces didn’t change much.
“It’s not a big deal,” said forward Peyton Rohrich follo
