Aerial photos show how a new retirement community is taking shape in an historic market town.

Progress is being made on The Willowbury off London Road, West Malling, where the Retirement Villages Group is building 140 homes in a mix of one, two and three-bed apartments and two-bedroom “cottages” for the over-65s

Expected to open in 2026, The Willowbury will include a wellness centre, gym, bar and restaurant, which will also be open to the public.

There are four main double apartment blocks, along with two strips of terraced homes.

It is being built by Gravesend-based Keady Construction.

The buildings have been designed to be reminiscent of West Malling’s Georgian architecture, while providing a modern standard of living.
