A major fire at a waste facility in western Sydney sent flames almost 500 feet into the air, launching a large chemical tank and showering firefighters with concrete debris. The blast damaged nearby buildings and was described as one of the region’s largest fires in years. More than 200 firefighters responded, with two sustaining minor hand injuries.
