While Toronto residents woke up Sunday to snow-covered lawns and roadways, it appears to be a light dusting compared to other parts of Ontario.

While the Greater Toronto Area has seemingly been spared by a big storm, much of southern Ontario will be hit with much more as snowfall warnings remain in place this weekend.

According to Environment Canada , two to four centimetres of snow and up to 70 km/h wind gusts are expected to hit Toronto, Mississauga and Brampton, while Markham and areas of Durham Region could see two to five centimetres of snow, with up to five centimetres or more on higher ground north of Lake Ontario, per CP24 .

Markham and Durham Region are under the yellow-coded snowfall warning as part of its new colour alert system.
