EAGAN, Minn. — When Sam Darnold joined the Minnesota Vikings in 2024, the expectations were minimal.
The former No. 3 overall pick had yet to find his place in the NFL, making stops in Carolina and San Francisco following an inconsistent three years with the New York Jets.
In Minnesota, however, Darnold and the Vikings found some magic. It translated into a 14-3 season, and despite a first-round exit in the playoffs, there were plenty of fond memories made throughout a season that most believe exceeded preseason expectations.
While the memories may still remain, Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores has made his intentions for Sunday known now that Darnold will be suiting up as an opponent rather than a teammate.
"We will blitz him this week, that's for sure," he laughed.
