A Blyth boy has recovered from being born with three separate heart conditions that meant feeding was the equivalent of running a marathon for him. Little Finn Byrom, 8, has been given a Braveheart award by a leading North East charity in recognition of the way he has dealt with those difficulties in his short life.
The twice-yearly awards held at St James' Park in Newcastle highlight the resilience and courage of youngsters like Finn who have lived with serious illness. Each child receives a special award and a prize of their - or their parents' - choice.
