Devin Vassell scored 18 of his season-high 35 points in the fourth quarter and the visiting San Antonio Spurs beat the Denver Nuggets 139-136 on Friday night to win West Group C and advance to the quarterfinals of the NBA Cup.

Julian Champagnie scored 25 points -- also a season high -- and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Spurs. De'Aaron Fox finished with 15 points and 12 assists, Keldon Johnson contributed 14 points off the bench, and Luke Kornet added 12 points.

The Spurs scored 30 points off 17 Denver turnovers to hand the Nuggets their third straight home loss.

Jamal Murray led Denver with 37 points, Nikola Jokic had 21 points and 10 assists, Cameron Johnson contributed a season-high 28 points, and Tim Hardaway Jr. and Peyton Watson finished with 15 points each. Denver finished 2-2 in NB
