In hiring Tulane's Jon Sumrall to lead the Florida Gators ’ football program, Stricklin is taking another risk on a coach without Power 4 head coaching experience.
Apparently, Stricklin does not heed the advice of Spanish philosopher George Santayana, who wrote, "those that ignore history are condemned to repeat it," because Stricklin took the same gamble by hiring Billy Napier from Louisiana without Power 4 head coaching experience. Napier wound up 22-23 in three-plus seasons at Florida before being fired on Oct. 19
