A four-alarm fire at an automobile parts recycling centre in Laval that started late Saturday night was under control by Sunday afternoon, but was still burning.

Laval police said a 911 call was received at 11:50 p.m. Saturday reporting the fire at Recyclage d’Autos Mondiale on Montée Masson in Laval’s St-François district, at the eastern end of the municipality.

Firefighters from neighbouring municipalities were called in to assist, and smoke was reportedly visible for miles. No injuries were reported and the fire did not spread, but the building is a loss.

A Laval police spokesperson said the cause of the fire will be investigated.
