CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A Starke man is dead following an early morning crash on State Road 21 (Blanding Boulevard) in Clay County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the 34-year-old was driving an SUV northbound on State Road 21, south of Middleburg, at around 4:32 a.m. Sunday. The driver veered left, crossing over the center line into the southbound lane, directly into the path of a pickup truck.
The front left of the SUV hit the other vehicle's driver's side door, FHP reported. The pickup truck, driven by a man from Orange Park, rolled over during the collision and landed on its side on the shoulder of the road.
While the man in the truck was listed without injuries, the SUV driver died. FHP reported that he was not wearing a seatbelt.
