FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas has hired Memphis’ Ryan Silverfield as its next football coach, ending a two-month search that began when Sam Pittman was fired Sept. 28.
One week before Pittman was fired, Silverfield’s team rallied from an 18-point deficit to beat Arkansas 32-31 in Memphis.
“I can’t wait to get to Fayetteville and get started,” Silverfield said in a video posted to the Razorbacks’ social media channels. “We’re going to bring a lot of success to the Hogs. It’s so well deserved. I can’t wait to see you.”
The Razorbacks officially announced the hiring of Silverfield on Sunday afternoon, about two hours after national outlets first reported the decision. A Razorback Foundation jet carrying Silverfield, athletics director Hunter Yurachek and others arrived at Drake Field in Fayettev
