AMES, Iowa —
For the first time in more than two decades, Iowa State toppled in-state wrestling rival Iowa on Sunday, snapping the Hawkeyes’ 20-dual winning streak in the series with a 20–14 win inside a packed Hilton Coliseum.
A crowd of 12,292 — the 10th-largest in venue history — watched the sixth-ranked Cyclones win six of 10 bouts against No. 3 Iowa, securing their first Cy-Hawk dual victory since 2004. The win also extended ISU’s lead in the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series to 11–2, with the Cyclone women’s basketball team set to host the Hawkeyes on Dec. 10 for a chance to clinch the yearly competition.
Iowa State controlled much of the action on the mat, finishing with a 16-9 edge in takedowns.
