LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Two people are facing multiple charges after a traffic stop led to the discovery of drugs and burnt copper.
Friday, a deputy with the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office did a traffic stop near Jim Sutton Road and U.S. Highway 70. Virginia Stancil and Bobby Thomas were in the car and were investigated after deputies say they confirmed Thomas had outstanding warrants.
After a K-9 alerted on the vehicle, a search was conducted, and deputies say drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine, and around 40 pounds of burnt copper were found.
Where the copper came from is still under investigation, according to officials.
Thomas and Stancil were both arrested and charged with Possession of Schedule II and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
