NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - After Saturday’s result in Knoxville, Tennessee fell out of the Associated Press Top 25 poll and Vanderbilt dropped a spot.

In their first-ever meeting with both teams nationally ranked, the Commodores topped the Volunteers 45-24.

The win marked Vanderbilt’s first 10-win season in program history, as the ‘Dores improved to 10-2 overall. It was Vanderbilt head coach Clark Lea’s first win over Tennessee in his tenure and the program’s first win against the Vols since 2018.

Even after the win over then-19th-ranked Tennessee, Vandy dropped one spot in the AP poll from No. 12 to No. 13 in the country.
