SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Missouri sports betting begins Dec. 1, allowing residents to place bets through mobile apps like FanDuel, BetMGM, or in person.

Sports betting enthusiasts like Johan Collins said the change could eliminate scammers who pretend to be out-of-state bookies.

“It would be more legit to go through the state because the state’s going to get money off of it, obviously. You know that it’s legit. It’s not going to be, like, some dude in L.A. trying to make money off of a dude in Missouri,” Collins said.

Collins said he thinks the new law could boost interest in local sports.
