JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — What appears to be a car repair gone wrong left a man dead Sunday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Officers were called out to the Vue at Baymeadows apartment complex at around 8:15 p.m. after a passerby said they found the man unresponsive and pinned underneath a minivan.

The sheriff's office said officers and fire rescue were able to free him from underneath the vehicle and take him to a hospital, but he was soon pronounced dead.

The man had reportedly been working on the minivan, which belonged to his friend, and was last seen doing the repairs around 5:30 p.m.

JSO said that while the man was working on the front end of the vehicle, the jack supporting it became dislodged at some point, causing the minivan to fall on top of him.
