GATESVILLE, Texas (KWTX) — Gatesville ISD announced that Intermediate aide Charlie Barnhill died unexpectedly during the Thanksgiving break.

Barnhill graduated from GHS in 2011 and had a reputation as a talented musician during his high school years and afterward. He came back to GISD a couple of years ago to work as a substitute teacher.

Barnhill started working as a full time aide at the beginning of last school year. He worked with special needs students and handled lunchroom duty. The district described him as kind, soft-spoken, and thoughtful.

GISD said students and staff liked Barnhill very much. The district said it will share service information when it becomes available.
