WACO, Texas (KWTX) - It’s a rare sight to see in Central Texas: a real Christmas tree farm.
Its hot, dry, drought-prone climate makes it difficult for traditional pines to grow, but the Radde’s figured out just the trick - and it’s been working for 40 years at Radde Tannenbaum Farm.
Kenneth and Kathy Radde’s Christmas tree farm has become a backdrop to family traditions for decades, and it all started from a little curiosity.
“We had actually seen an article in one of the farm magazines about people in Texas who were able to grow a tree that was native to Afghanistan. So we tried that, and sure enough, we could.”
Kenneth’s family has had their roots in the nine-acre property since 1946. Now it is growing hundreds of Afghan Christmas trees, inviting families to make memories of cutting
