OWENSBORO, KY. (WFIE) - It was an exciting Friday night, for both the Owensboro and Owensboro Catholic football programs, as they both won their state semifinal games.
Over in class 2A football, Owensboro Catholic won a wild and woolly semifinal battle, 41-40, over Beechwood.
The Aces and Tigers traded punches, the whole first half, before O.C. finally took control, in the second half -- at least until Beechwood mounted a late comeback.
The Tigers scored a touchdown on the last play of regulation, and tried to go for 2 and the win, but Catholic’s defense held strong, to get the 1-point win.
The Aces’ offensive line was fantastic in this one, continuously giving Miles Edge room to run, while also giving Dremail Carothers plenty of time, to pick apart the Beechwood secondary.
Now, Owens
