The post-holiday rush to get home from holiday destinations was in full swing at the Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) Monday morning.

AAA said this is the final day of the record-breaking Thanksgiving travel period, where over 81 million people drove or took a flight.

While Sunday was the peak return travel day, News4JAX observed a busy airport Monday morning. As of 5:50 a.m., there were two delays and two cancellations.

Across the nation, 49,000 flights are forecasted for Monday, and more than 47,000 flights for Tuesday.

News4JAX spoke with a family that was in town from Texas, heading back home on Monday morning.

“It was great. We’ll see what security is like in five minutes,” Meredith McKay said.
