WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG) - This week, people in Waterloo helped send 30 pounds of locally roasted coffee to soldiers serving their country in the Iowa National Guard.

“It became a pretty easy situation. If they’re going to come in and buy a pound for themselves and a pound for a soldier, I’ll match that pound,” Ryan Pierce said.

Pierce owns Fat Cup Coffee in Waterloo.

He said he’s always looking for ways to support our troops.

For every pound of coffee community members bought to send to troops, he matched it.

Pierce is also sending the service members holiday cards made by the children in the Boys & Girls Club of the Cedar Valley.

“It’s good fresh coffee that came from home. It’s better, it’s probably a lot better than what they’re being served,” Pierce said. “It’s those little comfort
