( Iowa Capital Dispatch ) - Leadership of the Iowa Board of Regents will change in the coming days after announcements from its president and president pro tem.

Iowa Board of Regents President Sherry Bates announced Monday in a news release she will resign from the governing board Dec. 4, the day after a meeting is scheduled to elect new leaders. President Pro Tem Greta Rouse also stated she will step down from the position but remain on the board as a member. Her term as regent expires in 2027.

Bates said in the release she’s been “fortunate enough to serve on the board for nearly 11 years,” during which she worked with “outstanding” regents and staff, both for the board and universities, to accomplish their duties.
