The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office took a person of interest into custody following a deadly Sunday shooting.

A 29-year-old man was shot in the area of 5051 Parkway in Fairfield. Police responded at approximately 1:17 a.m. Fairfield Fire & Rescue arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. He has not been identified.

Investigators believe a verbal dispute between relatives led to shots being fired.

A 27-year-old woman was taken into custody but has not been charged.
